FAQ - Overlap Users
We’re excited to share that Overlap has officially joined the Pangea family. This means everything you loved about Overlap now lives inside the Pangea App - one global platform where travelers, digital nomads, and communities connect, plan trips, and share experiences together.
Following our announcement of our acquisition of Overlap, we've prepared answers to the most common questions about the transition and how to continue using your profile seamlessly.
What does it mean that Overlap is now part of Pangea?
The Overlap app has been acquired by Pangea and the app has been integrated into Pangea's platform.

Our teams have joined forces to create one unified app for the global travel community - instead of having multiple smaller platforms, we’re combining everything into one place. The goal is to make travel and connection easier, with more features, more users, and one smooth experience.
Do I need to create a new account?
No. You don’t need to create a new account. If you already have an Overlap profile, it’s been automatically migrated to the Pangea app. You can simply log in using the same email that you used to login on Overlap.
How do I access my Overlap profile in the Pangea App?
The fastest way is to open the Overlap app, login to your Overlap account, and then click the button to open your profile in Pangea in one tap.
You can also login directly to Pangea using the same email address you used to signup to Overlap. This email address will be displayed in the Overlap app, and is the same email where you received the announcement.
- Download the Pangea App from the App Store or Play Store
- Open the app and enter your phone number
- Enter your Overlap email, and confirm it with the 6 digit code that is sent to your email address.
Once logged in, you can review your profile and make updates if you’d like - everything is ready to go.
What happened to my friends, trips and profile data from Overlap?
All of your existing friends, trips, and places have been moved over automatically. You’ll find them in the Pangea App on your profile, so you can continue chatting, planning trips, or meeting up just like before.
What’s new in the Pangea App compared to Overlap?
Pangea builds on everything you loved about Overlap, and adds more:
- A bigger global community of 50k+ travelers, nomads, and remote workers
- Trip planning tools to organize adventures with friends
- New community features to find people nearby or start chatting in shared group trips
- A richer Map, showing all the places you've been, want to go, and have travel plans to visit
Think of it as the next phase of Overlap's evolution.
What happens to my data and privacy?
Your account data has been securely migrated to Pangea in compliance with standard privacy practices. You continue to have full control over your profile and information, and can delete your personal data if you'd like. If you have any questions, you can email us at Privacy@thepangea.app.
I already had a Pangea profile - are my accounts merged?
We’ve merged accounts wherever possible. However, if you used different login email in Pangea vs Overlap, it's possible you now have two accounts in Pangea.
You can choose which account to keep, and which account to delete. Just login to the account you no longer wish to maintain, click "Edit Profile," scroll to the bottom and click "Delete Profile."
Now login to your other account and you can continue using it moving forward.
What if I didn’t log into Overlap with an email or I forgot my email?
Super easy - just download the Overlap app (or make sure it’s updated if you already have it) and press the button to login to your account. The email you used to create your Overlap account will also be shown on the screen in case you forgot it.
I used a different email to the one I used to create my Overlap account and now I have 2 accounts. What should I do?
Delete the new account, then log in using the email you originally used for your Overlap account.
If you’ve forgotten which email that is, you can check in the Overlap app, or the 'To' field of the acquisition announcement email you received.
I attached my phone number to the wrong account?
Email us at overlap@thepangea.app with both account details and we will fix it for you
Why did Overlap decide to join Pangea?
The Overlap team believes in the same mission as Pangea - bringing travelers together through community and shared experiences.
Instead of building multiple smaller platforms, joining forces allows us to grow faster and offer more value to users.
Together, we’re creating a single space where everyone can connect, plan trips, join events, and find belonging anywhere in the world.
What happens to the Overlap App?
The Overlap App will be phased out as we complete the transition to Pangea. If you're on the latest version of Overlap, you'll only be able to see the new screen with the button to open your account in Pangea, and won't be able to add new trips.
Please note, older versions of Overlap may still allow you to add trips. This data will NOT be migratedover to Pangea. Please add all of your new trips in Pangea directly.
We recommend downloading and logging into Pangea as soon as possible for the best experience.
Is anything missing from Pangea that existed in Overlap?
All of the key data and features, PLUS a lot more is included in Overlap. There are some minor differences in how Pangea works compared to Overlap, and we'll continue to work to improve the combined product. Can I delete my account if I don’t want my data in Pangea?
Of course. You have full control of your personal data. Simply login to Pangea and:
- Navigate to your profile tab
- Click "Edit Profile"
- Scroll to the bottom and Click "Delete Profile"
Once you confirm, your data will be deleted inline with our Privacy Policy.
Is the Pangea App free to use?
Yes, absolutely! The Pangea App is free to download and use, just like Overlap was.
You can continue connecting with other travelers, joining communities, and planning trips at no cost.
We’ve made this transition to help you connect with more people, in more places, more easily - all within one global travel platform.
What if I have issues logging in or finding my profile?
If you run into any problems logging in or finding your profile, our team is here to help.
Please contact overlap@thepangea.app and include the email address linked to your Overlap account, or a screenshot of your Overlap profile so we can help you.
